Last weekend, my friend Thomas and I spent the day walking around Santa Monica. It was the perfect day for such a walk because the weather was warm and the skies were blue! Thomas and I decided the first thing on our agenda was to check out the new mall that was erected near 3rd Street Promenade called, "Santa Monica Place."
It is beautiful! I could have spent all day taking pictures of all its offerings. For starters, it has an amazing range of stores from high end retailers to trendy boutiques.
When you head over to the "Dining Deck" you'll run into a plethora of chef-driven restaurants including Santa Monica's own Market Place. What I liked most about this new outdoor mall, is the fact that there is an entire seating area designed for those who simply want to relax and enjoy the view of the ocean. It is spectacular.
If you look closely, each corner of the mall is uniquely decorated with lovely statues and artistic impressions. This is a picture I took outside a Japanese restaurant where the entire landing is filled with water. In the evening, these decorative sconces light up inside casting beautiful shadows upon the water.
Another feature to this already terrific mall is their "Movies on the Deck" night. During certain nights of the week, they show classic movies on the top deck of the mall. It is free to their first 100 guests. How fun would that be? I can't wait to try it out. This particular weekend they were showing, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
After touring the mall, Thomas and I got hungry and decided to eat at an awesome sushi restaurant on 3rd Street Promenade called, "Monsoon." We ordered some sushi rolls and I ordered a Mojito! We sat on the patio that overlooked 3rd Street where we were entertained by a street performer singing some Bob Marley. Unfortunately, his show only lasted about two songs before a new guy showed up and started singing Christmas carols. Let's just say it took away from the warm spring day we had been experiencing. We suddenly grew quite cold!
With our stomachs full, we decided to continue with our walk and stroll down to the Santa Monica Pier. I love the pier because you always find lots of interesting people and fun stuff to take pictures of. Here are a few that I took:
After taking our time walking along the pier and taking pictures, we decided to call it a day and return to our car before the sun set. Santa Monica surely is one of my favorite places to hang out at. I am falling more in love with it every time I visit.
Holy BUCKETS that place is colorful!
