Santa Monica Classic

One of the items on my "To-Do" list for 2011 is to run a 10k.  I used to be a sprinter in high school and have always enjoyed running. My only challenge in recent years has been a bum knee.  That being said, I have resorted to using other methods of cardio to get in a workout.

Well, despite my knee, I need something to kick start my workout regime. With a tumultuous 2010 behind me, it's time I lose the weight I gained from the stress and what better way to do it then by signing up for a 10k.  I struggled with the idea of doing a 5k vs a 10k.  A 5k is too easy, yet a 10k will be a challenge. I have 5 weeks, so I am going to try for the 10k.

Here is what my training schedule will entail:

So, wish me luck! I am looking forward to the challenge :)

  1. GOOD LUCK!!!! This is great! I hope to run a 5K this summer. I've developed what the docs believe is 'tendonitis' in my right ankle so of course the 'cure' is- stop running. Um... yeah. So I've been doing the bike and elliptical but I HOPE to start running again! I HATED running in high school and I can't say I like it now but I look at a runner's body and I say, "I want that." ha! So ya gotta follow what they do, RIGHT???? You'll do great! If you managed to hike up Mount Wannahockalugie (aka - Canyon of Death), I'd say this 10K should be a breeze for you! **wink**
