"Knocked Up" ...Really?

Tonight I watched the movie, "Knocked Up" for the 100th time.  Thanks TBS! I don't know why I watched it (again) ... considering I will never get that hour and a half back...not to mention the hours I've wasted watching it all the other times.

Something occurred to me tonight during the "labor scene."  Once Katherine Heigel's character gives birth to the baby, they show an actual baby being placed in her arms.  To make it appear like an authentic birth, they cover it with... well...stuff.  You know, like stuff that comes out of the womb when the baby is born.  I thought, "Wow! That is someone's baby in real life. The real mother of that baby had to have walked into a casting office, taken pictures of her baby, attend a casting call and ultimately sign on to have her baby covered in newborn gunk for the "'labor scene.' "

I wondered how much something like that pays? So, I Googled it.  I found a casting call for a Centrum vitamin commercial. It appears to be a national commercial that pays $450.00.  I'm sure a movie pays a lot more then that.  Who knew there was a whole world dedicated to newborn baby casting calls!

At the end of the movie it shows Katherine Heigel and Seth Rogen driving the new baby home.  Seth's character makes reference to the fact he rented a new place in East LA for them all to live. Yet, the movie ends with the camera panning out to show them driving North on the PCH.  Those who are familiar with LA know that the PCH goes North and South along the coast. East LA is way across the other side of town. Where were they going? I suppose closing with a view of them riding along the PCH is more of a "Hollywood ending."

I've concluded after writing this entry that I have clearly watched "Knocked Up" far too many times.  The movie clearly was not produced to be minutely scrutinized  to the level I have embarked on.  Moving on...

  1. I don't remember much of that movie except for how crabby she was when she was at one of her appointments. I don't remember being like that EVER while pregnant! She obviously had a lack of nutrients in her diet to keep her hormones level! LOL!!! I also remember being annoyed that he was always smoking pot. I would have BEAT him silly!I thought it was weird they made her character so 'relaxed' about it.
