Last night my friend Noelle held a girls pajama night. There were a total of 8 of us girls who came throughout the evening. We all wore our pj bottoms, ate treats and had lots of girl talk. Some brought nail polish, others brought DVD's, and another even brought her own collection of skin care products to try. Let's just say we all had high hopes to re-live our "tween" stage!
Although we had good intentions of watching a "chick-flick" and conducting make-overs, we ended up just doing what women do best...TALK! Wow, we covered a whole range of topics like: "Why consuming and using organic products is so important?" "The different "stages" in a man's life," "What we do to pay the bills verses what our passions are." And "How the people in LA walk to a different beat than anywhere else."
We also thoroughly discussed why uncreative men don't get creative women. This was a big one. All of us ladies come from creative backgrounds: (Actors, Singers, Novelist, Comedienne, Songwriter, Make-up Artist.) We've all heard things like, "What? You don't work a 9 to 5?" or "But, what about your 401k? Retirement?" and "Your schedule is too confusing for me." Guys are simply clueless when it comes to anything outside of their bubble. It was powerful to hear how everyone of us had experienced the same thing at some point or another. We concluded that if we are going to support our man's lifestyle whether it be in a creative field or not, that person needs to embrace and support our goals too. Who died and made him the "Big Kahuna" anyway?
Oh yes, we covered several deep topics like that one! When women get together, we cover all the bases. It is like one big FREE therapy session!
We also managed to get a little goofy too. We played "Truth / Dare." We even did the "Light as a feather...Stiff as a board" game where someone lays on the floor and we all sit around her with our hands slightly beneath her body while chanting, "light as a feather...stiff as a board." Yeah...didn't work.
The cutest part of the night was Noelle's mother-in-law, Lorraine, knitted booties for everyone. So, when we arrived we all got to pick a pair and take them home with us! Lorraine recently knitted booties for all the girls on the US Olympic Hockey Team as her granddaughter played on the team.
